Emergency Dentistry
One of the benefits of having a dental home is to ensure we are always available for your child should they endure a dental trauma or have issues with pain or swelling in the head and neck region. We are available for a consultation during office hours and available after hours on call. If your child is not a patient of record, we can still see them for a consultation, if it is within our scope of practice. We will recommend the appropriate course of treatment based on clinical and radiographic examination.
About Emergency Dentistry
Emergency dentistry provides immediate relief for dental emergencies such as broken teeth or severe toothaches in children who need urgent care right away. It is important to be aware of the signs and symptoms that may indicate a dental emergency so you can take action quickly.
What is Emergency Dentistry? Emergency dentistry involves providing treatment for any type of dental emergency, from minor injuries to more serious ones. This includes treating broken teeth, cracked fillings, abscesses, lost crowns or bridges, and more. The goal of emergency dentistry is to provide fast relief from pain or discomfort caused by a dental emergency while preserving natural teeth and preventing further damage.
When to Seek Emergency Dental Care? If your child experiences any kind of trauma to their mouth that results in bleeding or swelling, it’s important to seek medical attention immediately. Other signs that require an urgent visit include extreme sensitivity when eating hot/cold foods; persistent pain; discoloration on the gums; loose permanent teeth; and bad breath due to infection.
